"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."
—Bilbo Baggins Lord of the Rings—
The best training for photography I have experienced so far is trying to get good shots of birds. They don't hang around very long so I am learning how to focus and shoot a little faster. I have found they don't look my way very often, so I try to catch them looking back !! My instructor insists that I use AV or semi automatic mode where I must focus manually while the F stop and exposure are automatic. Full Manual is down the road a bit. He said if you use automatic mode with a SLR Camera like my Canon, you might as well get a 100 dollar Kodak as the results will be the same. I am not yet fast enough so the fun and learning continue and I am just having a blast. Getting out early to catch the magic early morning light angle is wonderful....
While on wild land fire assignment near Phillipsburg, Montana, I got a chance to get a couple pictures of a Eastern Blue Bird (1st Picture) and a Mountain Blue Bird (2nd Picture). I will try to get a better picture of the Mountain Blue Bird today when I get back on the fire.
