Bill's Adventures in Antarctica
Update !!! Back home in Montana. I declined assignment back to McMurdo Station Antarctica (2010/2011) in communications as there is a conflict with my Wild Land Fire commitments. Mr. Harrigan wanted me to come back down on WinFLY (Aug 21, 2010) and that is in the middle of our Wild Land Fire season in Montana. It was quite an adventure with some wonderful people for two short seasons, and I want to thank Kris Kornegy (Shuttles Supervisor) for giving me the push I needed to stop smoking. I had smoked for 39 years (1970 - 2009) and quit successfully last August 2009. I will put all that free time I found I have after quitting smoking to good use Kris. And as a two pack a day smoker, I will also save $3600.00 a year. Thanks. I am retired and realized I don't need a full time job !!!! I also came to the conclusion, that retirement should be like a Golf Bag. There is only room for 14 clubs and a couple accessories . There is no room for schedules or meetings, stresses of today are forgotten, and tomorrow's to do list does not exist. The only time I need to worry about is T time !! I am looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas this year with family and a full season of Down Hill Skiing all round the Western United States. I will post pictures Ye Ha !!! I am also looking forward to continuing my education and taking up Photography as a new hobby. I will continue doing communications and Helicopter Crew Member on Wild Land Fires part time during the summer. This will be my eleventh season with a group of folks I have come to respect and admire.

Today, March 28, 2011 I received a very nice suprise. A Antarctica Service Medal for my two seasons at McMurdo Station Antarctica. I am honored having the privilege of working in Antarctica with some really wonderful folks. It was truly a great adventure for a country boy from Montana !!!!
